Tension measurement brackets are robust force sensors designed for mechanical engineering, cranes, and hoists. Integrated swivel bearings allow tensile forces to be transmitted without torque at a fixed center-to-center distance. Mounted directly in the force path, the sensor automatically aligns itself optimally, enabling highly accurate load measurements. The integrated electronics provide a reliable, interference-resistant 4…20 mA standard current signal. A version with a redundant 2-channel output signal is available as an option.

Tension load cells are proven force sensors for the precise measurement of tensile forces in industrial applications. They are used in machines, cranes, hoists, and other load-measuring systems. Thanks to their robust design, torque-free force transmission, and high measurement accuracy, they are ideally suited for demanding measurement tasks. Our high-quality tension gauges provide reliable measurement results, long-lasting performance, and can be optimally customized to your individual requirements.

What are tension gauges?

Tension gauges are robust force sensors designed for the precise measurement of tensile forces in industrial applications. Thanks to their special design with integrated spherical bearings, they enable torque-free force transmission and deliver highly accurate measurement results even under demanding operating conditions.

Applications and Areas of Use

Tension gauges are used wherever tensile forces need to be reliably monitored and measured. Typical applications include mechanical engineering, crane systems, hoists, and testing and load monitoring systems—such as for load control during lifting operations or for measuring force in tie rods and cable tension.

Advantages of Tension Gauges

Tension load cells provide highly accurate tension force measurement while offering easy integration into existing systems. Their durability, high load capacity, and reliable signal transmission make them the ideal solution for industrial load and force measurements.

ZML series load cells are available in a standard configuration with nominal load ranges of 30 kN, 50 kN, 100 kN, and 200 kN. Custom versions are, of course, also available with other rated loads and dimensions.

Possible output signals:

  • 4…20 mA
  • 0…+/-10V
  • +/-1 mV/V
  • CANopen
  • Diverse redundant output with 2 x 4–20 mA (2 l/3 L)

This allows the sensors to be flexibly adapted to different load ranges, installation situations, and safety-critical applications.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a tension gauge, and how does it work?

Tension gauges are force sensors designed to precisely measure tensile forces. Integrated ball joints transmit the forces to the sensor without generating torque, and the forces are converted into an electrical output signal for further processing.

Tension gauges are specifically designed to measure tensile forces. Depending on the model, they can reliably measure both small and very high tensile loads in industrial applications.

Tension gauges are used in mechanical engineering, crane systems, hoists, and in testing and load monitoring systems. For example, they are used for load monitoring on cranes or for measuring tensile force in rope and hoisting systems.

Thanks to their articulated mounting, tensile test brackets allow for the transmission of force with virtually no torque, resulting in particularly accurate measurement results. In addition, they are robust, durable, and easy to integrate into existing systems.

Yes, pull-type measuring tabs can be adapted to different measurement ranges, installation situations, and environmental conditions. This makes them suitable for special applications and customer-specific requirements as well.

Tension gauges are integrated directly into the force path of an application. The integrated spherical bearings ensure optimal sensor alignment and precise force transmission.

By default, strain gauges provide a noise-immune 4–20 mA current signal. Versions with a redundant 2-channel output signal are available as an option.

Thanks to their self-aligning design in the force path and torque-free force application, tensile test gages achieve a high measurement accuracy of. typ. 0.2% by weight . However, the actual accuracy depends on the specific model and application.

Strain gauges can be connected to PLCs, measurement amplifiers, or data acquisition systems. This makes it easy to monitor, analyze, and document the output signal.

Extension gauges are designed for long-term industrial use and require very little maintenance. Regular visual inspections and calibrations help ensure consistently accurate measurement results.
